About the Founder
With a first-hand lived experience as an African woman, Nakuya is conversant with the expectations, demands, limitations and stereotypes that come with that, which she has consistently questioned and challenged while navigating the consequences that come with that, and celebrating the liberties that come from choosing to own one’s life and its narrative, to the extent possible.
As an African woman, she is committed to reaching for her own fuller human experience beyond the stereotypical societal prescriptions, impositions and limitations, while contributing to efforts that inspire, encourage, and support other African women and girls to live fuller lives.
“My feet are planted on earth, in the here and now, and it’s my belief that we have this one life trip here that is not refundable or repeatable. I choose to contribute my efforts towards making the experience of this one life trip more just, more equitable, more dignified, more liveable, more enjoyable, more fulfilling, and healthier for me and other African women and girls,” says Nakuya.
