A Culture Built on Personal and Collective
Agency and Collaboration
Redefined African Woman
Welcome to this space!
We are here to unfold, embrace, and celebrate who we are as African women.
Before we are anything else, before we get labelled and categorised into anything else, we are human first. We are choosing to live out our full humanity, to the extent that’s possible and within what’s in our control.
As African women, we are releasing ourselves from the external perceptions, prescriptions and narratives we’ve long been expected to live by. Instead, we are redefining how we perceive ourselves and rewriting our life stories and journeys and how we choose to live our lives.
We are all different and multifaceted on an individual level. We thus choose to embrace and celebrate our diversity, support each other, and give a chance to our true selves to emerge, breathe and thrive, individually and collectively.
We choose to be proactive in developing and exercising our agency, voice and power to create a life that fulfils us while contributing to building and advocating for a world that equitably provides opportunity to us all and the coming generations to thrive better and enjoy this gift of life.
Before we are anything else, we are human first!
And we are happy to walk with all the women and men that are happy to join or support this journey of building a world that recognizes, upholds and celebrates the humanity and dignity of all, including that of African women and girls.
We are the Redefined African Woman!
Dr. Zoe Nakuya founded RAW in 2026 as a space for African women to remind themselves and each other of their full humanity, to claim it, to reach for a fuller experience of it, to be the authors of their life’s story and to celebrate their journeys without waiting for external approval or permission.
